Stylish Sundays: Stripes and Plaid

Have I ever mentioned how much I love flannel shirts? No?

Okay well I love them because they’re soft and they’re cozy and they make me feel stupidly snuggly and very 90’s grunge at the same time. And I love Grunge.

Flannel: Forever 21, Striped Tee: Victoria’s Secret, Pants: H&M, Shoes: H&M

These were actually taken before my Thanksgiving photo’s and I’m 100% certain that I was just running errands for thanksgiving.

Do you notice the Howl monster trying to hide behind me?

The Post about dying my hair will be up this week, probably on Tuesday, and then I have a couple other posts that I have planned, including a tiny makeup haul.

I love this photo because it has both mine and Howl’s feet in it, like he wanted to show off his feet too.

Stylish Weekday: Studded

It’s not Sunday, I know. It’s not even Monday or Tuesday anymore. It’s freaking WEDNESDAY! Where have I been? In bed, with migraines. Or not home. But I’m here now, with a pretty awesome outfit. I went shopping with my parents last week to pick up some pieces to put in my Halloween Costume, and then ended up getting home, looking at what I bought and realizing this is just everyday wear for me. So I wore it. Fashion and Happy Things! Stylish Weekday: Studded Shirt: Madewell, Jeans: H&M, Shoes: H&M I love this outfit, but I absolutely hated my hair. I couldn’t get it how I wanted it, but it wasn’t awful enough to justify a bun. However, I love these jeans. They were $10 at H&M and I was going to rip the knees out, but I changed my mind. I love them just they way they are. Fashion and Happy Things! Stylish Weekday: Studded I still love this shirt, I’ve had it for a couple years now, but Madewell really is worth the cost. It’s held up so perfectly. Fashion and Happy Things! Stylish Weekday: Studded On My Face: Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation, Maybelline The Nudes Shadows, Makeup Forever Eyeliner and Mascara, Hourglass Blush, The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Revlon New York Scene Lip Color. Fashion and Happy Things! Stylish Weekday: Studded Necklace: H&MI am completely obsessed with this necklace, which in the store was the costume-y bit that I purchased. But then I got it home and realized it’s actually just stupidly cute. So it’s now everyday wear. But my “costume this year wasn’t ever overtly costume-y so I guess there’s really no harm in it. ¬† Fashion and Happy Things! Stylish Weekday: Studded The only fault with these pants is the ankles aren’t tight enough, but I can fix that. Have you ever bought something for Halloween and ended up using it for not Halloween?

New Year, Same Me

It’s January 1st 2014, which¬† means there are an insane amount of New Year, New Me posts coming out with people making all kinds of resolutions and goals to loose weight, and life changes. I however am not a resolution maker. I’ve been joking that my only resolution is to buy more Victoria’s Secret stuff this year.

I guess I’m just really happy with who I am. So instead today’s post will be last night’s Outfit Of The Night.

Fashion and Happy Things! New Year, Same Me

I’m wearing the Victoria’s Secret Dreamer Flannel Pajamas in Navy Blue Stars and the Dreamer Flannel Slippers in Black/White Metallic Plaid.

On My Face: Nars Vanilla Concealer, Jack Black Lip Balm in Blackberry Tea and YSL Shocking Mascara.

I never go out for New Years Eve. We always stay home, snuggled up in our jammies, on the couch to watch the Ball drop. It’s tradition, and the perfect way to usher in a new year. My husband and I toasted with Smirnoff’s, our son had a cherry coke, and Howl enjoyed a Duck Stick, which is one of his favorite treats ever.

I’ve been debating for a few days about doing a what I got for Christmas post, and have finally decided that I might do a paired down version, showing the things that are relevant to what I write about here, but I have to exchange one of the items for a different size so that won’t go up for a few days.

It was nice taking a week off, because really starting from week 2 during Blogmas I began suffering from Blogging Burnout, and had no good ideas, but after taking a week off, I’ve had a chance to regroup and now I have plenty of ideas, some vague, some ready to prewrite, and others that probably should never be written at all. Plus Valentines Day is soon, and I absolutely adore Valentines Day, so be prepared for plenty of posts about that coming up.

Did you guys have a good holiday season? Or even more important did you make any resolutions for the New Year?

Influenster Rose Vox Box

I recently received the Rose Vox Box from Influenster and I decided to share with you guys what I got.

I’ll start with the bonus item first. Which is the Vitabath Asian Orchid and Coconut Hydrating Lotion

Fashion and Happy Things! Influenster Rose Vox Box

It smells amazing, but seems a bit out of place because the Coconut makes me think of summer. I do love it though.

Everything else on the other hand was really nice and absolutely spot on.

There was the Rimmel Scandal Eye Retro Glam Mascara which is very nice. It has a dry formula and gave me an effect similar to the YSl Shocking but not quite as big.

Next in the box was these Dr. Scholls for her cozy cushions insoles which I plan on putting in either my Wine colored Old Navy shoes or in one of my pairs of Hunter Rainboots. These feel insanely soft and I can’t wait to use them.

The last beauty product and my absolute favorite thing in the box were the Kiss Gradation polishes. They’re just so pretty, I got them in the color Film Noir but I noticed a gold version of these polishes in the little add in the box and I really want to pick that one up too. I love the Glitter, it’s just so stunning.

Then there was food included in the box:

Some Blueberry Belvita cookies which are absolutely delicious

and finally a Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffle. These are some of my favorite chocolates and I’m so excited about this one.

I think these vox boxes just keep getting better, and this has been my favorite one yet. Thank you so much Influenster for providing these items for me to try out. What item would you most like to see a review on?

Review: Nars Deep Throat

I know Nars is known for their naughty names, but I don’t mind them. After awhile of playing with makeup, you kinda get used to the strange and sometimes dirty names. The most talked about blush Nars has is Orgasm, but I feel like there’s a bit too much glitter in it for me. However, I purchased Nars Deep Throat a few days ago, and since I’ve managed to wear it everyday since. So, I thought I’d do a bit of a review on it.

Fashion and Happy Things! Review: Nars Deep Throat

I’ve never been truly obsessed with a blush before, I’ve had ones I liked a lot, like Too Faced Papa Dont Peach, but never one I’ve adored. I have had this since Saturday and I’ve managed to wear it everyday since, and normally I only wear makeup 2 or 3 times a week.

Deep Throat is a peachy-pink-coralish color. On me, I feel like it leans more on the pink side, but if I want more of a peach look I can build it up to that. The shimmer that it has looks less like shimmer or glitter and more like a sheen or glow. Which I adore.

I love that I can put on a thin layer for just a bit of a flush, or really build it up for a dramatic effect. I kinda regret not buying the fan brush my Sephora guy, Maxwell, recommended with it, but that will be remedied when I go back for bronzer later this spring.

Mostly I’ve been wearing this with just my Dr. Jart+ BB Cream, YSL Shocking Mascara, and sometimes a bit of Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner in Bourbon and the new YSL Volupte Sheer Candy lip color. Kind of just letting the blush do the work. Normally I don’t go that simple with my makeup until the hottest days of summer, but I’ve been feeling really good with my makeup this wy, and am super happy with this look.

I mean, just look at it! I don’t have anything else to compare it too, but I do know I’d like to try another Nars blush in the future. Maybe one that looks dewy and fresher for the summer, or maybe all I need to do is add a good highlight and a bronzer.
