YSL Gloss Volupté Review

I’ve been meaning to do this post for a while now, since it seems like I bought this gloss forever ago. Since I’m not doing much of anything thanks to my ankle, now seems like as good a time as any.

I bought the YSL GLoss Volupté in Grenade Pépite, which is a gorgeous watermelon pink.

There are 3 different types of gloss in the line, and this is one of the Golden Shimmers. They also have iridescent shimmer and no shimmer. This gloss is almost opaque, but still a little sheer which gives you great color pay off.

I have no complaints about this gloss. It’s gorgeous and it wears really well. It’s probably my most worn gloss.

Blogmas Day 8: Snow Day

I mentioned in yesterdays post that we’ve been sort of snowed in for the past couple days. Well I managed to get outside to take some photos and I’m very excited about them.

I’m wearing a Black Peacoat from Aero, Camel Tie Back Sweater from Loft, Black H&M Skinny Trousers, I knitted my hat myself with Alpaca Baby grande yarn, and of course my Pillar Box Red Original Glossy Short Boots.

My makeup is the usual except on my lips is Benetint.

I was really excited to finally get my Red Hunter Boots out in the snow. I’ve been waiting since I got them in February. I definitely need to some wellie socks because even with the Dr. Scholls Cozy insoles my feet still felt a bit cold.

Howl is also a really big fan of the snow.

He liked digging and rubbing his nose in it.

He was absolutely caked in snow by the time I got him to come inside. Which he didn’t want to do. He wanted to stay outside all day long. I kinda did too, the snow was perfect for snowman building and snowball fights which we had plenty of.

I’m so excited that we’re getting snow this year and I’m hoping for many more snow days, just as perfect as this one.

Nars Sheer Glow Review

For a while I was torn about what foundation to buy, but I finally chose and as you can tell I went with the Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Siberia

I ultimately decided to go with this because I liked the way it looked on my skin better, and that it matched my face better than the Lancome Tient Vissionaire. SO basically it was because Maxwell was right. Of course he was right, he’s always right.

I have incredibly oily skin, that even the most mattifying foundation has trouble keeping in line. So I usually tend to go for a Dewy finish foundation. I know most oily girls stay away from Dewy or Glowy foundations but hear me out, since my face gets oily anyway, if I use a matte foundation then when my foundation inevitably succumbs to the oil on my skin and goes patchy or shiny then it’s extremely noticeable and looks really odd. But if I’m already wearing a Dewy foundation, then my skin just looks more Dewy rather than patchy and oily.

Plus I like the Dewy finish. It makes my very pale skin look healthy and that’s something I need. Because pale skin that doesn’t look glowing and healthy looks sickly and scary. So even when I use a mattifying foundation I find myself using a lot of highlight to add some glow back into my face.

Personally I don’t have any issues with the staying power of this foundation. It last for about 5 hours on my skin with no powder, and almost double that if I use powder in the morning and touch up about halfway through.

However I feel like the Makeup Forever HD powder doesn’t work well with this foundation and gives my skin a sort of funny finish so if you have any recommendations let me know.

Stylish Sundays: Plaid Leaves

I’ve been sick for a little over a week, which means I’ve been wearing lounge wear since my last outfit post. So when I woke up on Saturday and it was crisp and I was feeling a bit better, I decided that proper clothes were in order and I pulled out my favorite skirt.

I’m wearing a White Oxford from Gap, Camel Tie Back Sweater from Loft, Plaid Leather Trimmed Skirt from The Limited, Hue Black Tights and Studded Asos Booties.

For my Jewelry I only wore my Kate Spade Gumdrop Earrings.

On My Face: Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla, Nars Blush in Deep Throat, various Lancome Eye Shadows, Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Bourbon, Benefit Watts Up, Benefit They’re Real, Lancome Rouge In Love Lipstick in Madame Tulip.

I adore these booties, they’re probably my favorite shoes ever, and they’re so comfortable.

Here’s Howl looking quite dapper in his hoodie. I love him in little shirts and things like that, but this is one of my favorites, next to his raincoat which is just plain adorable.
