Stylish Sundays: July 4th Inspiration

I was getting dressed one morning and realized I looked really patriotic. At first I thought about saving this post for July 4th, because I tend to just wear cozy shorts and a tee on the actual 4th out of practicality and sheer laziness.

But then I decided I should share the outfit now, so you guys could get an idea of something different to wear.

I curled my hair with my flat iron and then pulled it back with a Red Spotted Emi-Jay Hairtie. I told you I’m obsessed with these ties, I don’t use anything else in my hair.

I wore one my favorite necklaces which is affectionately called “Tiny Owl” in my house. Similar here.

I absolutely love these sunglasses, they’re the Madewell Drifter glasses and I feel like this style is absolutely timeless, you can get similar ones to mine here.

I bought these Sperry’s from Journey’s last year and I still absolutely adore them. They’re so comfortable and worn in and perfect. I can easily see wearing these til they fall apart, which will be a very long time from now. Sperry’s are incredibly well made.

Stylish Sundays: June Gloom

I, unlike a lot of people, am a huge fan of June Gloom. It means that I can do things like wear a Cardigan in June, which is basically summer. The Gloom seems to have passed for now, but here’s what I wore earlier this week when it was still rainy and gloomy.

I love this cardigan, I’ve worn it a few other times and it still remains a favorite.

I am still obsessed with my keds. I promise this won’t be the last you see of them this summer. They’re just so comfortable and go with so much of my closet.

What do you do when summers gloomy? Dress for the weather in bright colors, or pretend it’s summer anyway and freeze in a tank and shorts?

Stylish Sundays: Tomboy

When I was younger I was a Tomboy. In Kindergarten my parents had to fight to get me to wear a dress, and I only did with the concession that I could wear my X-men shoes with it. In 3 and 4th grade I constantly wore Yellow Leopard Print High Top Converse. They were my favorite shoes ever. Probably still are, those shoes rocked, and I cried when I outgrew them.

So today since I’m still feeling a bit crappy and my ankle still hurts, I decided to pull from my tomboy roots.

I’ll confess I swiped this tee from my husband’s closet. It’s a comfort thing for me. Whenever I’m sick, hungover or just depressed I steal his tees. He pretty much exclusively wears H&M tees, and they are the softest most comfortable tees ever.

These converse I bought a few years ago and they don’t get very much wear. I was so excited about them when I bought them, but I never feel like I’ve styled them very well. However since I need the support for my ankle, and I can lace them up over the wrap, I think for the next week or so these will be getting a lot more wear.

My makeup is super simple:

Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia, Nars Pure Radiant Concealer in Chantilly, Nars Deep Throat, The Balm Mary Lou Manizer, Marc Jacobs The Lolita Palette, Benefit’s Bad Gal Lash, and Victoria’s Secret Strawberry Fizz lipgloss.

My hair is just in a simple side braid with a white Emi-Jay tie and my nails are unpainted and short. Crutches are horrible on your manicure.

I’m only using the crutches now if I have to walk for more than a few feet. I should probably still be on them all the time, but I am really Klutzy and I’m worried I’m going to hurt myself.

Stylish Sundays: Injury

Remember how I said in this post that I was going to be working out more, and trying to take Howl for more runs? Well I won’t be doing that for the next 6 weeks. I sprained my ankle and am on crutches for the time being.  New posts will be scarce in the next few weeks.

Stylish Sunday’s: Take a Hike

It’s spring, which means that I am back on a fitness kick. It’s not for the same reason that everyone else is trying to get fit. I don’t like to go swimming and I haven’t worn a bikini since I was 16 and my best friend at the time decided that I needed one. So I’m not looking to get bikini ready. It’s actually that I just like to walk, and our town has a very nice trail. So whenever it gets warm I make sure to use it.

I still hate these shoes, I plan on replacing them with some Under Armour trainers, hopefully by the end of this summer.  Despite wearing them at least 3 times a week last summer they just don’t seem like I’ve broken them in yet. Plus I’m actually not that big a fan of Nike, it’s just what the sports store nearest me seems to have the most of. Under Armour is actually my favorite workout brand.
