Stylish Sundays: July 4th Inspiration

I was getting dressed one morning and realized I looked really patriotic. At first I thought about saving this post for July 4th, because I tend to just wear cozy shorts and a tee on the actual 4th out of practicality and sheer laziness.

But then I decided I should share the outfit now, so you guys could get an idea of something different to wear.

I curled my hair with my flat iron and then pulled it back with a Red Spotted Emi-Jay Hairtie. I told you I’m obsessed with these ties, I don’t use anything else in my hair.

I wore one my favorite necklaces which is affectionately called “Tiny Owl” in my house. Similar here.

I absolutely love these sunglasses, they’re the Madewell Drifter glasses and I feel like this style is absolutely timeless, you can get similar ones to mine here.

I bought these Sperry’s from Journey’s last year and I still absolutely adore them. They’re so comfortable and worn in and perfect. I can easily see wearing these til they fall apart, which will be a very long time from now. Sperry’s are incredibly well made.

Stylish Sundays: Striped

A little while ago it was super warm, so I took advantage of it and wore one of my favorite dresses.

I felt really good this day, it was the first warm day in a while and I was really thankful for it. I love winter. But I love spring more, because Spring means rain, and I adore rain.

I bought these white converse last year and I ended up loving them so much more than I do my black pair. They’re just so fun and classic. I don’t mind that the toes are scuffed a bit because that cleans up easy, but they have already been through the wash twice because I’m such a klutz.

Which season is your favorite?

Clothing Haul or Spring Blooms

Last week one of my closest friends O was in town and we managed to find sometime to do some shopping. It was a short trip because we were in a rush, but even rushed shopping is good shopping.

We only went to H&M because well have you seen my closet lately? It’s 90% H&M and I swear that percentage is climbing each time I go shopping. I just don’t seem to find anything anywhere else that I love and that’s in a price range I’m willing to pay.

I was originally only looking to get a Tee Shirt and Floral pants I’d seen the last time I was there that I regretted not buying, but I ended up getting a Dress as well.
The Tee is a super simple sheer oatmeal colored tee that’s long enough to wear comfortably with leggings, but looks great with everything. It’s the perfect easy throw on and go summer top and I plan on wearing it to death this summer. I also plan on getting more just like it because it was only $9.95.
Floral pants are super trendy right now, and I saw these the last time I was in H&M and fell in love with them. My husband said they looked like old lady pants on the hanger, but I’m pretty sure he likes them on me. Since it’s so trendy I didn’t want to pay a lot for a pair, and these were perfect because they were on sale for $9.95 from $24.95.
I had a 20% of coupon and I thought this dress was just darling. I need to wear a slip with it, and a bandeau because it’s really sheer and the arm holes are super low, but I love it anyway. It’s really lady like, and it makes me think of the dresses Emma Stone wore in The Help, but the need for a bandeau makes it feel super modern. I think I’m going to hit up VS this weekend and pick up a peach colored one to match, because I am dying to wear it. Probably this one.

I actually might grab another to go under that oatmeal colored tee. Bandeau’s never stay put for me, but I love the look so I really like the idea of the racer back bralettes. And they aren’t that expensive which is awesome.

I think the best part of this shopping trip was being with O. Usually I shop by myself or with my husband, but sometimes you need a girlfriend with you.

I have another haul that will probably be up sometime next week, that is makeup related…again. I know I have a problem, but I can’t help it.

Accidental Shopping Or Whatever

So I mentioned on Saturday that I was going to go get my hair cut, which I did. Which you’ll see tomorrow, or Wednesday, I haven’t decided. But I got there early, and I might have accidentally went shopping. Okay, not might have, did. Oops, whatever.

But I’m absolutely in love with everything I bought. So I forgive myself.

First I found this gorgeous dress in JCPenney. It’s the brand Olsenboyle. So I’m not surprised I love it, because I adore the Olsens.

Black and white Skater dress with a sweetheart neckline and sheer fabric at the top and a black waist belt, that’sactually not bad quailty. Its amazing, and on trend, whatever.

I haven’t actually shopped for myself in JCP since before their rebrand and price change. I kinda found a lot I love in there and you can expect to see more from there on here in the future.

Then I went to H&M, what that place is like my Mecca or something. Yes, that’s rude, whatever. They have so much cute stuff right now it’s painful. I completely regret not buying more while I was in there, but I didn’t. What I bought though was awesome.

A high necked almost cap sleeved coral/hot pink (whatever) skater dress. I’m so in love with this, and when I sent a dressing room pic to O. (one of my beasties) she said I looked hot in it. I agreed so I bought it.

You’ve noticed a pattern haven’t you? I purposely bought two skater dresses in one shopping trip. I almost bought three, but I restrained myself, barely. I set out looking for skater dresses. It’s because of the flippy skirt. It’s also because I’m obsessed with FleurDeForce‘s style, and they both look like something she’d wear. I also think Leigh Ann says could appreciate these dresses, considering her last OOTD. It was, as always, amazing. I kinda really love her. It’s whatever though.

Then while I was at H&M I fell in love with a necklace, so I bought that too.

It’s a statement necklace, that has lots of dangly silver leaf things. I love it, I’m doing to wear it with everything.

Then I went to Journeys, and did a bad, bad thing. I bought more shoes. From a brand I already own. In two different colors. Whatever.
Fashion and Happy Things! Accidental Shopping Or Whatever
They’re white Converse.
Fashion and Happy Things! Accidental Shopping Or Whatever
I needed them. Remember I’ve been a bit obsessed with them. Starting in my The Romance In Traveling post, and How Shoes Change The Attitude Of An Outfit, and then How To Wear Converse. All of those posts focused on white Converse. So I kinda needed them. I’m so in love with them.

I kinda blame Nikki Phillippi for pushing me over the edge on these. I also blame her for the mint (oh, or maybe peach!) vans I plan on buying in the future. But since she told me to on twitter I think she’s cool with that. My husband, however, may kill me. Bury me with my shoes if he does.

Do you think it would be too much to wear them with the coral dress and a neon purple belt that I plan on going back to H&M and buying? No? Good, because I’m gonna wear it that way anyway.

Be proud on me though, I walked through Sephora twice and didnt buy anything. It was so hard. Okay and the first time, it wasn’t for lack of trying. I went in to see if they had my beloved Nails Inc Metallic polish in another color, but that Sephora didn’t. I was so heartbroken.

There is a major over use of whatever in this post. I probably could have come up with a better way to say things. But ya know what? It’s whatever.

How Shoes Change the Attitutde of an Outfit

My obsession with Hunter Rainboots aside, I do just love shoes in general. I have over 30 pairs currently and while that’s not an outrageous amount, since I know people who own more, it is still a lot of shoes.

I think my favorite thing about shoes is how they can completely change an outfit. Your shoes do affect your accessories. But the base of the outfit stays the same Like this:

Fashion and Happy Things! How Shoes Change the Attitutde of an Outfit

A simple sundress from People Tree and a cute cardigan from La Redoute.  Just the outfit basics, and some shoes I’d pair it with. I’ll tell you what accessories I’d add and where I’d wear it too.

Well if I were going to wear these pink ballet flats, then I’d add a soft scarf and a pretty peach colored bangle. I’d probably wear this to a day date or a really casual evening date.

I’m not a big on wearing high heels personally, I don’t walk well in them because I have bad knees. These however are lovely and if I were going to wear the heels, I’d wear them to an interview or a nicer date, and I’d add a delicate gold necklace and a gold bow ring.

I know both the options above are really expensive but you can find similar styles at every price range, those were just the first ones that I found that went well with this dress, and I didn’t hunt longer because I really wanted to get this post up today.

If I were going on a hiking date or to an outdoor or garage concert I’d probably wear combat boots with some socks that are a bit higher than the boots so they show. I’d also add a long necklace and a bunch of bracelets. This outfit feels very 90′s flowerchild/soft grunge to me but I kinda love it.

For an everyday, just running errands and brunch with my friends I’d wear white or maybe mint or peach Converse, toss my hair in a pony tail, add a bracelet or two and maybe some fun earrings and I’m completely ready.

Next to Hunter, Converse is definitely my favorite brand of shoes. They’re really comfortable, and they come in a bazillion colors and there are customizable versions as well. They are the only shoes other than heels or ballet flats that I approve of with a fancy dress, like Kirsten Stewart wore here and here. I don’t know why but it just works.

So that’s four different ways to wear one outfit and the biggest change in any of them is the shoes, the accessories could all go with any of the shoes, they’re just how I would personally wear them.
