Stylish Sunday’s: Basically

I never really get a great start off to the year, because I’m always really sick until midspring when it starts to warm up. So for a little while longer it’s going to be just stylish sunday’s posts until flu season is over.

I think I took these last wednesday, I wasn’t to sick, but I was still feeling really lazy.

Even Howl was feeling the laziness of the day:

Since I was feeling really sick I just tossed my hair up into a bun, but I wanted to feel cute so I added a frenchbraid in the back:

Stylishly Late: Sweater

This week has been awful. First on Sunday, on my way to the store this happened

I really did almost wreck my car. While I couldn’t really see because mascara burns when it’s in your eye, this guy decided he’s going to make a left into my lane and cut me off and I just barely managed to brake in time to not end up in his trunk. Then while I was in the grocery store someone stole my bankcard and my library card out of my purse, while I was wearing it. I don’t know why they took my library card too, but they did. That really messed me up, it felt like a bigger violation, and I was pretty much a mess about the whole thing the rest of Sunday and all of Monday. And finally I’ve been really sick for the past couple of days and I’m going to the doctor tomorrow.

So that’s why this post is so late.

Sweater: Nordstrom, Pants: H&M, Boots: H&M

I’m super excited about this sweater though. I’ve had it forever and I absolutely adore it. I love cable knit everything, and am still on the hunt for a perfect cream or white cable knit sweater.

Since it’s late Autumn I’ll try to get as many pictures taken outside as I can, but because it gets dark earlier and it’s cold, it’s back to the old wooden door as my backdrop.

Side note: All November, December and January proceeds from the sale of White Wine In The Sun go to The National Autism Society. Check out the song and then maybe get a copy for yourself and for a friend, it’s a beautiful song and a great cause.

What’s your favorite Holiday song?

Finding Me

Welcome to Fashion and Happy Things new look! Grab a cup of tea or coffee and get cozy and stick around.

Fashion and Happy Things! Finding Me

In September it will be 5 year since I started Fashion and Happy Things, and 2 years since it’s last makeover. I watched Taylor Swifts Live Stream on Monday and what she said about making an album every two years really stuck with me. Two years is enough time to change the way you dress, change your hair, change the kind of music you like. I’ve changed a lot in the last two years.
I want Fashion and Happy Things to represent me, as I am now. Somethings will never change, but the things you see in the image above, and the things in my header image are my absolute favorite things right now. I still love Sweaters, but instead of loose oversized cardigans, I’m loving fitted crew necks. I’m still obsessed with books, but I’m less into vampire books than I was. Instead of gushing over Ballet Flats, I adore Keds and Boots. I still drink way more tea than healthy, but I’m fruity teas and relaxing teas rather than black teas. And of course I changed my hair.
I really feel like these things represent me. I feel like I’ve changed so much, but I’ve somehow stayed exactly the same. Let me know in the comments what you think of the changes around here.

Christmas Gift Guide For Him 2013

Instead of doing a book review today, I’m doing my second Gift Guide post. I always get my husband to help me with the gift guide for him post. It’s probably one of my favorite posts to write, because I get great ideas to share with you, and some ideas to use when shopping for my husband.

Fashion and Happy Things! Christmas Gift Guide For Him 2013
  • Kiehls Ultimate Man Refueling Set. This is perfect because most guys don’t think to buy themselves high end skincare. They tend to grab whatever is at the drugstore and be on their way. They may not be so thrilled with this gift at first, but once they try out the products they’ll be singing a different tune.
  • Cologne is always good, especially if it’s your boyfriend or husband. My husband is a fan of Viktor & Rolf’s Spicebomb, but what’s really important is that you like they way it smells too, so shop around and make sure to clear your head with those coffee beans.
  • Or if he already uses higher end skincare then you might want to try something like The Art Of Shaving’s kits. Using a higher end shaving cream really does make a difference.
  • If the guy in your life is big on exercising, or just prefers a sporty look then a sport watch like this Nike+ Sport with GPS would be absolutely perfect.
  • For the guy that’s just turned 21 or is an alcohol connoisseur then these Villeroy &Boch Scotch Tumblers are perfect. If they already have drinkwear then try something like these Whiskey Stones which are perfect because they cool your drinks without watering them down.
  • Everyone is obsessed with their iPhones these days it seems, and this Olloclip is a really cool accessory that allows you to take better pictures with your phone. For the tech guy or photography buff in your life this gift is absolutely perfect.
  • Something that’s entirely practical is a scarf. I love to give scarves usually ones that I’ve knit myself, and my husband likes them because for a while after I’ve made them they smell like me. If you’re not a knitter try picking up this Gap Buffalo Checkered Scarf and then give it a spray of your favorite perfume. Let it air out for a while before you wrap it so it will smell very faintly of you every time he uses it.
  • Because we all know that some boys just never grow up, a remote control Helicopter is the perfect toy for the adult boy in your life. With a usb charger, gyroscope, LED light and metal  body this Phantom Gyro Helicopter is wicked cool.
  • Of course I’m going to recommend a Sweater, personally I think this Heritage Irish Fisherman’s Crew Neck Sweater is perfect. But really you can get great sweaters at a multitude of places.
  • Finally my husband said that a good quality wallet is always a good gift. He personally picked this Jack Spade Mill Leather Bill Holder, because he said it looks well made and still relatively slim.

Once again these are just suggestions and hopefully they make your shopping this season just a bit easier and more seemless.
