Stylish Sundays: Ladylike

I know it’s Monday, and not at all Sunday, but yesterday was my dad’s belated birthday party and I forgot to schedule the post to go live while I was gone.

We are finally caught up to now with my outfit photos. These were taken Last Sunday when I was feeling particularly girly. I seriously think it’s the new hair cut. I’ve discovered I don’t like it any other way but wavy/curly and I find that I’m dressing that way more often.

Top: F21 Belt: H&M Jeans: Gap Shoes: Sam Edelman Bag: Kate Spade Bracelet: H&M Necklace worn as a Bracelet

This top is seriously the last thing I ever bought from Forever 21, and I honestly forgot it was from there until I checked the tag.

Makeup: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, YSL Shocking Mascara, Nars Blush, The Balm Mary Lou Manizer, Marc Jacobs The Lolita Palette, Hourglass Liquid Lipstick

I curled my hair with the Conair YouCurl Infiniti tapered wand and then brushed it out. This seems to be my go to style, it’s my absolute favorite way of wearing my hair since I cut it off. It it’s straight I feel like it’s a little helmet-ish because of the bangs, and if I put it up I just feel weird because it’s short.

I love these shoes! I’ve had them for a couple years for now, and they remain favorites. I always feel very princessy and ladylike whenever I wear them.

Do you have anything that makes you feel special when you wear it?

Black Lace and Kate Spade

I have one last set of photos from before I cut my hair so I decided to post them as my Friday post instead of as a Stylish Sunday’s Post

My favorite Aunt got married on June 21st and I really liked the dress she picked for me to wear.  fashionandhappythings-6398

Dress: Asos Skater Dress in Daisy Lace, Belt: Kate Spade Bow Belt, Shoes: Sam Edelman Calypso Quilted Flats (Similar), Bag: Kate Spade Cove Street Irini (Similar)

I absolutely love this dress, without the belt it’s very 90’s and I plan on pairing it with a plaid shirt and some knee socks and keds this fall.

On My Face: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B10, Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in Chantilly, Makeup Forever HD Powder in Translucent, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush, The Balm Highlighter in Mary Lou Manizer, Marc Jacobs The Lolita Palette, YSL Shocking Mascara, Urban Decay Eyeliner in Bourbon and Dior Addict Lipstick in Dior Kiss

I curled my hair with a large 1 1/4th curling iron.

Nails: Butter London Scandal

And here’s my favorite Aunt and I after the ceremony:

It was wonderful seeing someone I’ve always looked up to get married to an awesome guy. And how gorgeous was her dress? Red’s her favorite color and I love that she bucked the trend of wearing white and instead wore what made her happy.

Have you been to any wedding’s recently? What did you wear?

Stylish Sundays: Valentine

Since Friday was Valentines day, I thought I’d show you what I wore when we went out to dinner to celebrate, and what my present that I hinted about on instagram is.

First my present since I’m just dying over it still:

It’s the Kate Spade Cove Street Irini, and it’s absolutely perfect. I am obsessed with Kate Spade and have wanted a K.S. Purse for quite sometime. Since my husband noticed I’ve just been grabbing my wallet when I go out lately, he decided that this one would be perfect because it’s small and it’s a crossbody.

I love the lining because it’s brightly colored and makes grabbing anything an absolute breeze, which isn’t a problem right now because my wallet takes up most of the space, I need to get a smaller wallet, and I’ve already picked out a couple I’m in love with.

This is honestly the most perfect present I could ever ask for.

To dinner I wore:

V.S. Pink Long Sleeve Top, The Limited Tweed Mini, Hue Opaque Black Tights, Sam Edelman Calypso Flats in Black, Kate Spade Cove Street Irini Bag

Kate Spade Patent Bow Belt

Kate Spade Square Stud Earrings and Skinny Mini Necklace.

On My Face: Nars Sheer Glow, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, YSL Shocking Mascara, Caudalie Lip Balm, The Balm Frat Boy, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer, The Balm Hot Mama worn as shadow, Lancome Brown Eyeliner, Lancome Metallic Taupe shadow

All said it was a lovely day. What did you do for Valentines?

Book Review: Things We Didn’t Say

I originally read this book over a year ago, and recently picked it up for a thumb through when I was sick. I forgot how much I liked it. Things We Didn’t Say by Kristina Riggle is a really moving story, told from several points of view over a period of 48 hours.

Stepping into a ready made family is never easy, and on the morning the Casey’s secrets are driving her out, Dylan her soon to be stepson disappears after being dropped of at school. In the ensuing terror and upset as the family searches for Dylan, Casey’s secrets, among others come out, changing everything.

This story was written really well. Everyone’s back story while perhaps a bit traditional, since you  have the new Fiance, the Father, the bratty teens, the overlooked middle child, the brainy youngest, and the Batcrap Crazy ex-wife, it’s all still really well written out. The people don’t feel flat or one dimensional. Casey seems to be the only one who keeps her head in all of this mess, everyone else either goes off the deep end with worry, or in the case of the ex-wife is incredibly self absorbed and thriving on the Drama.

For me this story was a bit out of my comfort zone. The family dynamic type stories aren’t ones I usually read. In truth, I usually read either flippy little murder mysteries, supernatural type books, or dark and twisted books. This book felt more like a messed up sitcom to me than any of those. But I did enjoy it.

Final Verdict, I recommend it. While it’s not a light read by any means, it’s still a really good one. I know I didn’t go into much detail, but it’s the secrets in this books that make it so interesting.

The outfit I’m wearing was inspired by Nina of after the 40 bar finish. I really loved the outfit when I saw her wear it, and remembered it instantly when I saw my floral pants sitting on the chair in my room waiting to be put away.

I’m wearing a Feed For Target Chambray, Floral Pants from H&M (last seen here) and Sam Edelman Calypso Flats in Black.

I paired it with my Lover’s Locket from Jewelmint, which has been one of my favorites for this season so far, and been pretty much just alternating with my Pen Necklace.

Close up of the Sam Edelman’s. These are definitely one of my favorite pairs of shoes and well worth every dime.

I also wore my Madewell Drifter sunglasses and had a pink Emi-Jay hairtie for pulling back my hair while driving.

On my face was Lancome’s Tient Vissionaire Foundation and Concealer,  Nars Deep Throat, YSL Babydoll Mascara, NYX Skinny Eye Marker Eyeliner, and whatever random lip gloss I grabbed out of my purse first.

I felt surprisingly comfortable in this outfit, even though tucked in shirts are way out of my comfort zone. Have you worn anything out of your comfort zone lately and then ended up feeling like you were pulling it off.

Stylish Sundays: Spiked Rose Gold

Or How Do You Like My Fringe?

These photos are actually the photos I was going to put up last weekend, but for several reasons they didn’t go up. This outfit was super basic because I was going shopping and getting my fringe (Bangs! I know bangs, but I prefer fringe, because bangs makes me think of Ricky Martin) cut that day. I’ve really been loving the basic outfits lately.

Top: Gap Market  Place T
Pants: Aeropostale
Necklace: Jewelmint Lovers Locket
Shoes: Sam Edelman Beatrix
Sunglasses: Madewell Drifter

On My Face: Lacome Tient Vissionaire, Nars Concealer, Nars Deep Throat, Makeup Forever HD Powder, YSL BabyDoll Mascara, Lancome Ever So Sweet with a baby pink Chanel Gloss over it.

My Hair: Blown Out by Christie at Tanya’s Image and Wellness Salon in Crestview. Go see her and tell her I sent you. Then got to Sephora and get Maxwell’s advice about Makeup, seriously he’s a genius. He should blog, and Youtube.

Those Sunnies are a sneak peek for a Haul that’s coming sometime next week. I actually bought them the day before. I love them because they sort of remind me of the the 50’s, and they’re the ones that I put in my Birthday wishlist. I decided to buy them for myself. The day I took the photos, I didn’t find anything. Which was a bit of a bummer, but C’est La Vie.

Have you purchased anything you just couldn’t wait to wear lately?
