Today is Howl’s First Birthday! It’s the only one he’ll ever have, because next year will be his Second Birthday and will obviously not be the first one anymore. I’m so happy that he is in our lives, and that he made it to his first birthday. There was a few days this past September that we thought he wasn’t going to make it. We still don’t know for certain what made him sick, but we’re elated that he seems to be all better now.
I thought it might be fun to show how much he’s grown over the past year.

It’s funny looking back at these pictures, I tried to use ones that were all taken around the middle of the month since we brought him home on April 13th. I’m really sad that I don’t have a good picture that shows his tiny triangle tail then, but I do have some videos from then so maybe I’ll upload one of those to YouTube soon. Looking from June to July you can really see a bigger change than in any other month to the next month. And in September he just looks so worn out, and in desperate need of a grooming. We couldn’t get him groomed because he had severe bruising from either something he ate that poisoned him, or an autoimmune disorder and he also bruised really easy. But thanks to a wonderful emergency vet staff and our local veterinarian, Howl is happy healthy and one year old. And during this whole mess we found out that his breeder was wrong and he’s a Shih Tzu Poodle mix instead of a Shih Tzu Yorkie mix like we thought. I can’t wait to show you what he gets for his birthday later in the week, but I actually have another really awesome post going up tomorrow, so his birthday Haul will probably be on either Wednesday or Thursday.
