Of course since I’m still ill, the first outfit is just a toe in to fall fashion. I adore these green pants from H&M, last seen here. And this studded top from Gap is one of my absolute favorites, last seen here. My shoes are also studded loafers, that are the brand Wanted and I got from DSW.

For my bracelet I just wore an H&M black and gold bangle, and on my nails is Lancome’s Noir Caviar which is still going strong as my all time favorite. I actually think I might need to buy a new bottle soon, because I’m seriously running low.

Here’s a better look at the shoes. I absolutely love these, and even though I’ve worn them in all seasons, I think they’re at their best when paired with fall fashions.

Howl is doing much better, which I am very excited about. This is his first fall ever. Since he was born in February. And I am so excited for him to play in leaves and go trick or treating with my son. And honestly? Winter was so weird last year I’m not even sure he saw snow last year.

Fall is definitely off to a very good start.

I’m wearing a Utility Jacket from H&M, Hollister Sweater, Gray Tank from H&M, Gap Legging Jeans, and Pink and Pepper Boots.

Even though it’s from Hollister and I’m not actually a fan of the Abercrombie company and it’s policies, I actually really love this sweater, and would totally buy more sweaters from them. This one is really soft and comfortable and washes well, even though it says dry clean only.
The jacket I bought from H&M last spring, and it’s absolutely awesome. I last wore it here. I adore this jacket, it’s comfortable and it’s perfect to layer with a sweater on extra chilly days.

These boots from Pink and Pepper I bought last year and I adore them. Despite the one inch heel they are incredibly comfortable and are my absolute favorite riding boots I’ve ever owned.

There’s no good close up of it this week, but I’m wearing the Pen Necklace Miss Cannady bought me last year for my birthday. I am obsessed. It’s probably my most worn necklace.

I am completely in love with my makeup from these photos too. I’m wearing Lancome’s Tient Visionaire foundation and concealer, Nars Deep Throat Blush, Lancome Eyeshadows, YSL Baby Doll Mascara, Lancome Rouge In Love Lipstick in Madam Tulip, and Makeup Forever HD Setting Powder.

Of course here’s Howl’s close up. If you’re wondering why his front leg has been shaved, that was from his time in the hospital. He is doing so so so much better, but he’s still on medication and constant surveillance.

How did your Friday the 13th go?

This look is my absolute dream look for hanging around in an old library, learning strange things that no one ever really needs to know.

The basics of this outfit are the Madewell Penfield Stokes Checked Shirt, H&M Cable Knit Sweater and H&M Skinny Jeans. Of course it had to feature H&M they are my favorite place to shop. I’d wear this Kate Spade Apple Of My Eye Mini Pendent, because Apples have a two fold symbolism come fall. Then I’d add in this red and white striped Vickers Bow from Kiel James Patrick. I, like Becky, adore these bows. The story behind them is they’re based off of men’s bow ties, and turned into bracelets for women. I have had these on my wishlist for ever and can’t wait to own one someday, hopefully very soon. Then for shoes I chose these Kate Spade x Keds in Frame Dot Pink. They’re bright and colorful, and I adore the mix of red and pink together. I know some people think they clash, but I’ve always adored it. I adore the just in from the cold flushed look, and Exhibit A from Nars will give you exactly that. I know red blush looks scary, but it’s all in how you apply it. Then of course I had to chose a red polish, and this one from Illamasqua is just gorgeous.

Another one of my favorite fall activities is apple picking, and with just a few changes this outfit is still pretty perfect for that.

I’d change into some Hunter boots, to prevent the possibility of ruining those adorable Kate Spade x Keds, toss on this adorable Boat Jacket by Superdry, and I’m all set for the outside. This Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Shopper is perfect for carrying all the apples I pick, and this Loose Leaf Tumbler from Teavana is an absolute necessity for keeping warm in the cold

I’m certain that no one here has forgotten how much I adore H&M. They’re priced well and their clothing is great quality. So since they recently began stocking their Fall Clothing, I thought hey even if you can’t shop right now, why not “window” shop anyways. So I of course found everything that I would like to add to my closet for this fall, added into my cart, stared at how much it cost, and then decided to make a wishboard. So here it is:

I dunno if I’ve ever mentioned it before, but I love Fall. I can’t help it, I’m pretty sure it’s because I was born in the Fall. Nothing gets me more excited than leaves changing color, the smell of wood smoke in the air, bringing out my boots, and snuggling into sweaters and coats.

Honestly everything above would pretty much complete what I need for Fall. Ever since I did that closet clear out last year, I’ve been slowly rebuilding my clothing. Fall is such a great season for me, because I don’t tend to buy anything overly trendy. Unfortunately in the Spring and Summer I get a bit stupid and buy trendy stuff I won’t wear that often or even the next year. I don’t really know what comes over me. But my Fall purchases are always practical, because I just adore sweaters. I can picture these styled a bazillion different ways. I adore them all. I’d love to buy that 3rd sweater in every color. It looks so cozy. Those pajamas are perfect because they have little bows all over the leggings which I of course adore.

What’s on your Fall must have list?

Since I’ve been sick I thought I’d do another Ins and Outs post. It’s not like I have anything better to be doing, trapped here on my couch. Mostly I’ve just been lying here with Howl wishing I weren’t sick.

Ins:

• Howl, he’s still absolutely adorable. I love his little puppy face off!
• Planning what I’m going to wear for my upcoming birthday. It’s over a month away, but seriously it’s my favorite day of the year.
• Kitchen Nightmares on Netflix. I don’t know why I wasn’t watching this show before, but I’m obsessed right now.
• Catching up on Supernatural, since I have the flu and can’t do anything, I have a lot of time for catching up on T.V.
• Fall scents out in stores, I love the fall and winter candles and air fresheners and stock up to try and have enough to carry me through the year to next fall.
• Bangs. A little while ago I decided to get rid of my bangs, and I’ve regretted it ever since.
• Pajamas. Being sick means I’ve spent a lot of time in my comfy clothing, and has left me craving some new pajamas.

Outs:

• The Flu. Seriously it’s 2013, why haven’t we cured this yet?
• The Cost of high end cosmetics. I have sensitive skin and have to be careful about what I use. I am absolutely hating how much I have to pay for them though.
• Howl chewing my moccasins. Seriously, does anyone know where you can get Minnetonka Moccasins repaired? I left them out one night and he chewed the insides. Now if I leave my closet open he goes and gets them.
• Painting my nails, what? I can’t be bothered with them right now. I dunno why but I’m just not into it.
• Shopping. Oh I’ve still got things I want to buy, but no money for it. Thanks to things like student loans, and being sick, I’m broke. So right after my birthday it’s a spending ban til Christmas. Only thing I’ll be buying extra are presents.

Thankfully it looks like I have more ins than outs, so I guess I should cheer up. What are your Ins and Outs?

Sadly it is time to accept that summer is fading away. I’ve chucked my sun cream, packed away mu sunglasses, and am fighting the urge to hibernate in a barrel of cotton wool. What I’ve noticed is that my key summer buys are so quickly left wilting somewhere at the bottom of my closet that I may’ve well not bought them!

But not this year! I’m determined to keep my distance from my tent-sized jumpers and jogging pants and keep my key summer dresses  in use. My thought, is that with the right statement coat, you can stay warm without sacrificing style. I’ve set out to create three ways the one-coat wonder can work for a casual day, in the office and on a date or cocktail night with the special ones. When it comes to picking a good coat, I’d always advise a neutral classic style. I opted for the elegant Mint Velvet Trench from House of Fraser. Here’s how it went:

When it comes to work, the easiest blunder is the safe trap. Just because you’re expected to be smart, that doesn’t mean dull! Take these gorgeous Ted Baker floral trousers. This print’s been seen on the likes of MTV’s Holland Roden and is the perfect combination of summer brights and sophistication. With the coat on and a pair of courts, this look will still have a feminine edge, and lovely shape. I’ve also added a  Michael Kors watch for a work-ready touch.

For a relaxed weekend, the trench works just as well. I’ve teamed it with a peplum blouse to add some femininity, and a metallic satchel for added excitement. With some comfy pumps and skinny jeans, this outfit is stylish without sacrificing comfort.

Upgrading to more glamour in autumn can seem difficult. I see far too many women shivering and uncomfortable, as they resist a jacket that they fear will dampen their look. However with a classic trench coat, if anything it complements the outfit. A tie at the waist makes such a beautiful silhouette, and teamed with this playsuit, you’re carrying on the season’s monochrome trend perfectly. I’ve added Kurt Geiger’s ever-popular Isabella sandals to the look, as this trend has been huge. Nonetheless, when colder weather sets in, a pair of suede courts or Chelsea boots could look equally swish without the chill.

I am determined this year, to keep my wardrobe exciting and on-trend. With the right structured coat, you won’t be limited by low temperatures and can freely revisit your summer buys!

Tell Fashion & Happy Things what you will be teaming together to keep hold of your summer buys for longer?

I don’t know about you, but what I’m reading usually changes with the seasons. Spring and Summer I like to read light, everyone is falling in love, type books. But come fall and winter, I love mysteries, and dark, creepy or scary books. I’m  not sure if it’s just me getting ready for my favorite holiday, but come the colder seasons I am all about the creepy stuff.

Not all out horror, don’t get me wrong, but you won’t catch me watching the final destination movies (save the second one that Ryan made me go see, and then didn’t show up for you ass!), but when it comes to books I like to read things that I could never ever watch on T.V.

Which brings me to this book haul.

Why yes that is Howl on the edge of the picture. Photobombing is an art and he has got it down, just go look at my last haul. From Left to Right they are, Dream With Little Angels by Michael Hiebert, Cemetery Girl by David Bell and Sharp Objects By Gillian Flynn. I’m probably most excited for Sharp Objects, because it was recommended by ChapterStackss or Katie on Youtube. She is probably my favorite youtuber. I followed her from her beauty channel to her booktube channel and every book that she’s recommended that I’ve read, I’ve adored. She’s actually who inspired me to start doing book reviews on my blog, so go check her out!

As you can see I bought these books from Target, and I haven’t read any of them yet. I’m really excited to get reading them, but I actually have another book to read first. It’s called Getting Rooted in New Zealand by Jamie Baywood and after I’ve read it I get to do a mini interview with the Author that I’m very excited about. I kinda consider it my last light and girlie book of the summer. What books are you looking foreward to reading this fall?

This time I bought the Skinny Banded Sweatpants in Dark Heather Grey which has the logo in pink and Navy which has the logo in red. They’re extremely schnuggly and cozy and warm. I’m so in love with them, I just want to spend all my time in them. I definitely prefer them to the Victoria Secret Pink Pants. These are seriously the softest pants that I’ve ever put on. They claim to have a cheeky butt fit, and I don’t know what that is exactly, but my ass certainly looks as good as you’d expect it to in sweatpants. They don’t have pockets, but I’ve never really liked pockets in sweatpants anyway, since if you drop your phone in, or anything at all, it seems to drag them down on that side. The banded bottom is great because you can cuff them up for spring or early fall and wear them long in the winter.

I also bought two different styles of the hoodies, a zip up and a pullover. The first one, the zip up is the Hewlett Street Hoodie in Burgundy. I adore it, it’s made from the same material as the sweatpants and it’s insanely warm. It’s very fitted, which is nice as it doesn’t make me look shapeless. The sleeves are a bit tight if you have a long sleeve shirt on underneath, but since it’s so warm you wouldn’t need to do that unless it was absolutely freezing out. I love the golden yellow embroidery on the front, it works really well with the deep burgundy color. This hoodie hits me right at the top of my hips, and the sleeves are kinda long, I can comfortably cover my hands if I want to, which I did when I wore it out trick or treating with my son last night because it was so cold out. But at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, the hoodie was still warm enough to be out wandering around.

The Second hoodie, the pullover, was the Roselands Hoodie in Grey which has pink stitching for the logo, that matches the sweatpants I bought exactly even though the hoodie is a lighter grey than the pants. I haven’t worn it for more than a few minutes to try it on and see how it fit, but I really really like this hoodie. It’s just as soft as everything else I bought, but it seems to have a looser fit than the other hoodie. It fits comfortably in the sleeves with long sleeves under it. It seems to be a bit longer too, but not by much. It’s a typical pullover with a Kangaroo pocket. There’s not much else to say since it’s made out of the same material as everything else I bought, but I definitely love it, and have a feeling that this one will quickly become my favorite because of the coloring.

All said, I’ve very happy with my items and I definitely think I’ve found my replacement for Victoria’s Secret. The prices are better and the quality seems to be better, and the hoodies are softer and schungglier than the V.S. ones I’ve bought in the past. I’ve already decided I need one of their sherpa lined hoodies before it gets much colder, and another pair of the sweatpants, okay and their sleep pants, and I’d love to try out a tee or two of theirs. What can I say, I’m obsessed and have definitely been converted to a Gilly Girl.

Secondly Gilly Hicks, or GH which is a store I’ve loved from afar is having a sale on their sweatpants. I usually stick to Victoria’s Secret for sweatpants and hoodies, but I’ve placed an order with Gilly Hicks today and when I get them I’ll do a haul/ review for you guys either here or on my youtube. I’m kinda really excited because I have 2 hoodies and 2 pairs of pants in my cart and it came to $100, when a hoodie and pants from VS usually totals to over $100, and even at full price from GH it wouldn’t come to that.

I know in my last post I said I wasn’t going to randomly spend $100 here and there, well first off, I returned some shoes, so $40 of that will be back in my account soon and I’ve actually needed some new sweatpants for awhile so while I was going to wait a month or two to pick them up from VS in hopes they’d have a sale, but since it’s a need and not entirely a want I don’t see the point in waiting. I’m pretty excited about the hoodies because all of my hoodies are sort of really young since they’re from VS Pink. I think I’ve reached an age where I’m a bit to old to wear pink in public at all, since it’s aimed at high school, college age girls. Though if you told that to most of the women in my town, I’m certain they’d be offended. GH has tamed down their sexual image to appeal to a younger age range but still have maintained a more grown up feel.

Gilly Hicks is an American brand, with a British and Australian flair to it, that was launched in 2008. It’s tagline is that it’s Abercrombie’s cheeky cousin. There’s actually as story behind the brand, which while fictional is pretty neat. The story is about a young girl named Gilly Hicks in the early 1900′s, she was supposedly born and raised in England, but moved to France to study fashion before settling down in 1932 in Sydney and opening an underwear shop in her family’s manor. She found success and happiness making comfortable bra’s to help women feel comfortable and sexy. And that smart Australian women came from all over to be fitted by her. A portrait of the “original” Gilly Hicks hangs in all the shops. (Or at least they used to)

The story is in actuality a complete load of bollocks. Though it does exactly what it was meant to do, which is create an atmosphere. Gilly Hicks was meant to be a big competitor for VS, and Aerie. I’ve never shopped at Aerie, the things that have caught my eye don’t ever seem to be worth what they want me to pay for them. I do shop at V.S. quite a bit though and while I’m not making any judgments right now, I have been looking for a sort of replacement and am hoping this will be it. I quite like this brands style which I’ve read about on a few blogs written about the brand. GH is meant to have a laid back tomboy-sexy feel, which I will agree matches VS for their loungewear. I haven’t looked into GH’s lingerie line, but that was their big opening point when the shops first began. I do plan on giving that a look soon, and will let you know what I think.

All in all I’d say I’m very excited about the order I have placed with them, which should be here on Halloween.
