I ultimately decided to go with this because I liked the way it looked on my skin better, and that it matched my face better than the Lancome Tient Vissionaire. SO basically it was because Maxwell was right. Of course he was right, he’s always right.

I have incredibly oily skin, that even the most mattifying foundation has trouble keeping in line. So I usually tend to go for a Dewy finish foundation. I know most oily girls stay away from Dewy or Glowy foundations but hear me out, since my face gets oily anyway, if I use a matte foundation then when my foundation inevitably succumbs to the oil on my skin and goes patchy or shiny then it’s extremely noticeable and looks really odd. But if I’m already wearing a Dewy foundation, then my skin just looks more Dewy rather than patchy and oily.

Plus I like the Dewy finish. It makes my very pale skin look healthy and that’s something I need. Because pale skin that doesn’t look glowing and healthy looks sickly and scary. So even when I use a mattifying foundation I find myself using a lot of highlight to add some glow back into my face.

Personally I don’t have any issues with the staying power of this foundation. It last for about 5 hours on my skin with no powder, and almost double that if I use powder in the morning and touch up about halfway through.

However I feel like the Makeup Forever HD powder doesn’t work well with this foundation and gives my skin a sort of funny finish so if you have any recommendations let me know.

*That photo is from this post, I am wearing a Loft Sweater, Infinity Scarf I knit myself, Madewell Sunglasses. On my Face: Nars Sheer Glow, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, Makeup Forever Setting Powder, Benefit Benetint, Lancome Color Design Eyeshadows, Benefit They’re Real Mascara and Benefit Watts Up

Bonus Note: I took the product photos you see here! I’m so proud of how they turned out. After my photographer Husband edited them of course.

Dr. Jart+ Black Label BB Cream Review or What’s That On Your Face and Neck? http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/04/dr-jart-black-label-bb-cream-review-or-whats-that-on-your-face-and-neck/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/04/dr-jart-black-label-bb-cream-review-or-whats-that-on-your-face-and-neck/#comments Tue, 02 Apr 2013 18:17:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2013/04/dr-jart-black-label-bb-cream-review-or-whats-that-on-your-face-and-neck/ So I’ve had the Dr. Jart+ Black Label BB Cream long enough to have made my judgements on it. And the Verdict is…

I love it, but I hate it.

It’s a lovely BB Cream, with decent Coverage. Less than a light foundation, but more than a tinted moisturizer. It goes on smoothly, and stays put all day. But there are some buts for me, and man they are big ones.

It doesn’t match my skin, it’s too tan toned for me. I am Lestat pale, and the color on this just doesn’t work for me. (If you didn’t know: Lestat is a Vampire, he predated the Cullens, first read Interview With The Vampire, then rent the movie. Then marvel in the awesome that are Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt as Vampires.)

Secondly I hate The Smell. I don’t know what it is, but I am not a fan. I don’t know if this is everyones opinion or just me, but man I hated putting this near my nose. I put it in italics because seriously it was awful to me. No one else seemed to mind it.

Third, I’m allergic to it. Hence the title, I went all splotchy and itchy and developed a red blotchy patch on my neck and this is the only thing that could have caused it. Since I’ve stopped using it it’s starting to go away. It was also irritating the acne on my face. I’ve not used it for about 4 days and everything seems to have gone back to normal.

But I think if you’re interested give it a go. Most people aren’t as pale as I am. I’m of Irish decent and I purposely stay out of the sun most of the time. I burn way to easy and I’m terrified of Skin Cancer. The Smell issue may just be me. I’m really picky about the way stuff smells, and I can’t exactly put my finger on what this smells like. Finally the fact that I’m allergic to it should not put you off. I’m allergic to a lot of things. That’s actually why I started buying high end makeup in the first place. Everything I tried from the drugstore broke me out.

So now I’m on the hunt to try new foundations. I love the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, and it works wonders on me in the cold weather, but when it gets hot it just sort of melts off my skin. I’m thinking of looking into the Nars Sheer Glow, Illamasqua Light Liquid Foundation or Illamasqua’s Skin Base, or the Burberry Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation. I’m currently testing samples of the Nars Sheer Matte and I hate the way it sits on my skin but love how it matches. I’m in Siberia in case you’re wondering. And the YSL Touche Eclat which I’m in love with but can’t get over the price. However loving the YSL one and the color of the Nars one gives me hope for the Nars Sheer Glow. Maybe that will be my winner. Are there any other foundations you think I should try?
