So last night I put together a look board for my idea of a perfect cozy outfit for this year.

winter
Pastels are in this winter, as are sweatshirts so not only is Sweatshirt from Victoria’s Secret in Blush completely adorable, I absolutely love the stars, but it’s also completely on trend. I went with these AE Skinnies, because American Eagle really do make some great jeans. Then for boots these Dylan Riding Boots from Sperry are perfect and practical. For accessories I thought that this cable knit hat from Topshop was adorable, and no look post or wish list made by me is complete with out something from Kate Spade, I love these bow earrings, and I thought that this Be Dazzling iPhone case had a great sentiment. Plus it’s glittery and something about winter just screams glitter to me. Then continuing with the pastel theme, this Butter London Polish in Sprog just looked so wintery to me.
I’d probably wear this outfit out running errands. I think it’s the perfect thing to wear to pick up a movie and some take out, before coming home and changing into your pj’s.

What To Wear: Thanksgiving http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/11/what-to-wear-thanksgiving/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/11/what-to-wear-thanksgiving/#comments Fri, 01 Nov 2013 09:00:49 +0000 mana http://fashionandhappythings.com/?p=1790 I actually did a What To Wear Post for Thanksgiving last year, and I was reminded of it a couple days ago when it showed up in the viewed post for that day. I decided to do an updated one for this year.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Since I did a casual look and a Dressy look last year, I decided to do the same this year.

I started the casual outfit off with this Cardigan from Jack Wills (similar) because it just looks so cozy. Then I added this Duofold Plaid Shirt from Gilly Hicks. Keeping in mind that Thanksgiving is a Food Holiday and I, like Dean Winchester, believe pie is everything, decided to copy last year and go with Leggings for my bottoms. I love these tuxedo leggings from Topshop, Only because the Gilly Hicks top is long enough to cover your bum. These Sperry Dylan boots are gorgeous and I want them in my closet right now. And I finished off the outfit with these bow earrings from Kate Spade.

For the Dressy outfit, I once again took inspiration from Blair Waldorf’s Thanksgiving outfit in Season 1. That is of course my favorite episode. I chose this Cream Lace dress from H&M. Then I thought some cranberry colored tights would look amazing with it, so I picked these from Modcloth. For shoes I went with the pointed toe Brogue Bluchers from Zara, which are on my to buy list. I added this coat from Zara because I loved the color and the collar of it. For Jewelry I thought these Amethyst Studs from Kate Spade and this gold necklace with Curved Bar from H&M (similar) rounded out the outfit nicely.

This year I’m probably going to go with something close to the second outfit to wear for Thanksgiving day. At least that’s my idea right now. I do have 28 days to change my mind.

What are your Thanksgiving traditions? Any Thanksgiving related posts you’d like to see?

Takin’ on the Jellies or another Childhood obsession http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/05/takin-on-the-jellies-or-another-childhood-obsession/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/05/takin-on-the-jellies-or-another-childhood-obsession/#comments Fri, 31 May 2013 19:07:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2013/05/takin-on-the-jellies-or-another-childhood-obsession/ Today’s post is another childhood obsession of mine. I’ve blogged before about how I desperately dreamed of having a pair of Red Rainboots just like Ramona Quimbly, which this past Valentines my lovely Husband made come true, and with Hunters at that. I know I’m a very lucky girl. But being that summer is coming up I’ve been thinking of proper wet shoes for the hot weather.
Last year I bought Sperrys just for that reason and honestly? That was flat out dumb. They are insanely comfortable, until you get them wet. Then they are just as uncomfortable as any other wet canvas shoe. For some reason I thought that them being a boat shoe meant they’d be just grande to walk in when wet. I was terribly mistaken. I wore them to Kings Island and regretted that descision as soon as I stepped off White Water Canyon. Which since its my favorite ride, I rode 5 times in a row. Yep, I’m extra stupid.
I know most people would just wear rubber flip flops, and I do. Sometimes, if I have too. But mostly? I hate them. A lot. I have weird feet people, flip flops or thongs, and I are not friends. Bonus issue, I cant drive in them, its like Cher Horowitz in Platforms. Plus, I see a lot of Moms in my town switch from crocs to flops when it gets really hot. Long story short (Too Late!), I don’t do flip flops, no matter how much they cost except to walk the dog at 3am, and if I weren’t allergic to bees, I’d skip the flip flops and go barefoot.
I told you that incredibly long story to tell you this incredibly long story. I’ve always wanted Jellies shoes. I was never allowed to have them, even as summer running in the mud shoes because my mother thought they were impractical, no matter how cheap they were then. However, as an adult I’m not subject to my mother’s fashion opinions and can buy all the stupid shoes I want to. For evidence see my shoe collection.

That said I have recently discovered that Kate Spade makes Jelly shoes, and that they aren’t terribly priced and I need a pair for this summer.

Kate Spade
The problem is I can’t decide which ones, and on a couple of the pairs, I can’t decide which colors. While I like the Jennie Flat in Cobalt/Turquoise I think I prefer them in Pink/Orange. However I feel the opposite way about the Farren Sandals, I think they look so much sweeter in Cobalt/Turquoise, but not so much in the Pink/Orange. The other two pairs I really like are the Jane Flats in Pink which have a completely adorable bow on the toe and the Fiala Flats in Orange Rubber which have a hot pink flower on the front. I’m kinda in love with all of them!

I could see my self having many “Summer Adventures” in these shoes, and for the flats I could easily see them paired up with Skinny Jeans and a Tee/Jacket combo. The Flats are probably more practical, since I would wear them into the fall time and probably stupidly into the winter. However the sandals just scream summer, and even though I’m not much of a sandal wearer I’m completely in love with the Farren sandals because of the bow on the front. What do you think guys, which pair should I choose?

Bonus note: Takin’ on the Jellies is from Finding Nemo which is one of my all time favorite Pixar movies, and is fittingly a children’s movie.

By The Way: There is only 1 day left on my Oasap.com Giveaway, and if there isn’t 50 entries there will be no giveaway thanks to Oasap’s terms for the giveaway as noted in that post, so hurry up and enter and tell your friends to enter too!

Singleminded to the point of Recklessness http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/05/singleminded-to-the-point-of-recklessness/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/05/singleminded-to-the-point-of-recklessness/#comments Fri, 25 May 2012 02:10:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/05/singleminded-to-the-point-of-recklessness/ I never really feel like myself unless I’ve got an an item that I’m looking to acquire fashion wise and then nothing in my wardrobe will go with anything else until I have that item.  I know it’s frivolous and materialistic but it’s the way I function.  I adore comfortable and classy but still trendy fashion, I need it, I thrive on it.  I tend to err more towards classic than straight on trend, since I like things simple and lasting, but I’m not above buying a cheap and cheerful high low dress that I’ll wear a handful of times before it falls to pieces in the wash.  I also believe you can make anything work if you have the right shoes.  It’s usually shoes that are my downfall.  I know I have items that I need in my wardrobe that I just don’t have, like skirts and blazers, but I keep pushing them aside for shoes.

Here lately I’ve been in a fashion slump.  Since I’ve been so ill, and I’ve been trying to work out and loose some weight, I’ve been living in my sporty/comfy clothes.  VS Pink sweats and Soffe cheer shorts while adorable for the sporty girls are not exactly fashionable, or really appropriate for trips out of the house beyond the gym and the grocery (if even there, I have been really sick lately do not judge).  But I have nearly reached 10 lbs weight loss (3 more lbs to go) and I plan on rewarding myself for every 10lbs lost until I reach my goal.  Since 10lbs won’t take me down a pant size, I’m waiting until I hit my next goal level for new clothing.  But I still feel the need to reward myself for such hard work.  Especially since I love food, okay well I love junk, but still dieting is a life style change and I’m working hard to make these changes permanent. So I’m rewarding myself with shoes.  Sperry’s to be exact, red Sperry’s.  I’ve wanted a pair for a long time but haven’t been able to decide on the color, and I’ve recently realized I don’t own red shoes, I have blue and pink and multi colored.  I have brown and white and black, silver and rose gold, but I don’t have red.  I don’t really like sandals, though I own several pairs because I really don’t like my feet, and my chucks end up taking quite a beating come summer since they aren’t really pool shoes, but Sperry’s would be perfect to wear with my swimsuit and cover up and oh so adorable with so many different outfits, plus I could easily see wearing them into late September with some skinny jeans and a cute tee or sweater.

I’ve become singlemindedly focused on these shoes, I’ve been laying here thinking about them all day and it was driving me crazy, hence the late blog post.

On a side note, I’m working to start a business as a stylist, so this blog will be getting a makeover and going back to it’s roots which was fashion to begin with.

Thanks for reading…see you soon!
