I also realize that what I’m wearing rarely changes, so I thought I’d show you what my typical daily makeup looks like.

fashionandhappythings-0603

I don’t lay my makeup out like this when I go to put it on, I just wanted to make it look pretty for blog  purposes. And yes that is a GlossyBox lid.

Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl is one of my favorite highlighters, and it’s absolutely perfect for daily use. Since I have a yellow undertone to my skin, I like that this is pink toned because I feel like it adds a bit of a warmth to the glow it gives.

This is probably one of my all time favorite concealers. Nars Radiant Creamy concealer is hands down the best concealer for dark circles I’ve ever used. It’s okay for acne blemishes, but it’s not as good as the Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer. I’m out of that one right now and since even though it’s not the best, the Nars does work I’m not worrying about repurchasing the Tarte one right now.

My Foundation is most days is the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse, usually I prefer the Nars Sheer Glow or the Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua, but lately I’ve been using the Rimmel Foundation on days where I’m not taking photos or filming. It’s a really good slap it on and go product for me.

The Mascara pictured is the Rimmel Glam Retro something or other. I’m not positive because I don’t use it anymore. I love how it looks, and that it’s a breeze to apply, but it makes my eyes water like crazy. So right now I’m currently using the YSL Babydoll that I got a sample of and seems to be lasting for ages. When that runs out I’ll be forced to decide which YSL Mascara to purchase since they’re the only brand that I’ve tried where my eyes don’t water like crazy.

My setting powder which I don’t use with the Nars foundation is the Makeup Forever Professional HD Setting Powder. I love this powder with every other foundation I’ve tried it with, but I don’t like what it does to the Nars foundation.

These are the Lancome Eyeshadows that I use on pretty much a daily bases. I have a NYX palette and a BH cosmetics 120 palette but I just don’t love them as much as I do these. The Lorac Pro Palette is on my Christmas list though.

And the last thing in my daily makeup routine is my blush which is the Nars Deep Throat Blush. It’s terrible but I only own one blush. I went through a big clearing out and use it up phase and somehow got to the point that for awhile I was actually out of blush. It was awful. I’m just so indecisive and rather than buy a few I ended up not buying any for the longest time. It was Maxwell that recommended this blush to me so of course I needed it instantly. I do plan on buying a blush palette soon, but I’m torn between Nars, Sleek and Inglot. I might go with two, but that just seems excessive to me.

There’s no lip product pictured because that changes constantly. Or I’m just not wearing one. Mostly it’s the latter, because I’m terribly forgetful.

If you wanna see me slap all this on then you can watch my Everyday Fall Makeup Routine below

What’s your everyday makeup or do you switch it up everyday?

Hot Pink Summer Kisses or YSL Succulent Pomegrante http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/05/hot-pink-summer-kisses-or-ysl-succulent-pomegrante/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/05/hot-pink-summer-kisses-or-ysl-succulent-pomegrante/#comments Sat, 11 May 2013 16:56:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2013/05/hot-pink-summer-kisses-or-ysl-succulent-pomegrante/ I’ve had YSL’s Succulent Pomegrante for a while now, and while I haven’t worn it often because of a terrible break out on my chin that I haven’t wanted to draw attention to, I am completely in love with it. So I thought I’d do a bit of a mini review.

First like all the other Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm’s it has gorgeous Silver packaging with a Gold emblem over a background that’s ment to be what the color looks like inside. I’d say it’s a close match but obviously a bit off because it’s metallic.

The of course the color is amazing. It’s a very bright pink, which can look very scary, but it’s truely amazing on. Lets look at it, please excuse the lighting differences from image to image, I promise that the colors shown are true to color.

First my lips with nothing but lipbalm on. Smith’s Strawberry Rosebud Salve to be exact. Why yes that is the same picture from my last YSL review, thank you for noticing. In my opinion, bare lips are bare lips and there was no sense taking a fresh picture when I had a perfectly good one already.

Then we have the color freshly applied. It’s a gorgeous warm pink that’s sheer, but still bright. It feels amazingly moisturizing on the lips and wears really well.

Finally, for some reason I have an image of it a few hours after application. I’d like to say I did it on purpose to show you how it wears, but really I’m sure it was just a random thing, or I had my husband crop the wrong photo. Whatever.

Even a few hours later it still gives a lovely rosy, glowy tint to your lips and if I could get that color on my cheeks I’d be the happiest woman in the world.

This is definitely my favorite product for summer, completely beating out Tarte’s Lip Pencil in Joy from last Summer.

Face of the Day or Don’t I look Pretty http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/04/face-of-the-day-or-dont-i-look-pretty/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/04/face-of-the-day-or-dont-i-look-pretty/#comments Thu, 04 Apr 2013 19:26:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2013/04/face-of-the-day-or-dont-i-look-pretty/ The other day I really really loved the way my makeup turned out so I asked my husband to snap a quick picture so I could share it with you guys.

He of course managed to get a couple awesome ones.

I’m wearing on my face Chanels Vitalumiere Aqua, Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Concealer, Nars Deep Throat and YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in #4 Succulent Pomegranate.

My eye makeup was my favorite part. I’m wearing Benefit’s Leggy Shadow all over my lids, with Too Faced Ever After in the outer corner, Urban Decay’s Bourbon 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner Pencil and I kinda smudged it a bit with a Lancôme eyeliner brush, Tarina Tarintinos’s Broken doll eyeliner on my waterline and in the inner corner, and finally YSL’s Shocking Mascara.

This has pretty much been my go to easy makeup look and I feel like it looks amazing. It’s simple, quick and I’m obsessed with this routine.

Stylish Sundays or Comic Books http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/03/stylish-sundays-or-comic-books/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/03/stylish-sundays-or-comic-books/#comments Mon, 18 Mar 2013 00:10:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2013/03/stylish-sundays-or-comic-books/ I know today’s post is going up late, it’s been a very busy day,and I just lost track of time. There is a bit of a back story behind the local I chose for this weeks outfit pictures. My dad collects comics, he has since he was a kid. He actually taught me to read using the names on his Character Cards. That’s not the actual name of the cards, but they’re like baseball cards for comic book characters. Both he and my mother play role playing games. That’s actually adorably how they met. I spent a lot of time as a child exploring comic shops because of this, most specifically Comic Book World. So when a comic shop opened up a few towns over from where I live I had to check it out. Then I discovered the owner had hand painted on a super cool Spiderman on the side of his shop, and had a cool poster collage on his window. So I decided that it was the perfect place to take this weeks photos, and after obtaining permission did just that. So to make a long story short (Too Late!) lets jump into the outfit post.

I’m wearing a White Tee from Madewell, Blue Skirt with Red Polka Dots from The Limited, White Converse and my Tiny Owl Necklace from Forever 21.

On my face is Dr. Jart+ Black Label BB Cream, YSL Mascara, Nars Deep Throat and Tarte’s Lipsurgence In Joy. And you can’t see it but surprise, surprise on my nails is Cheyne Walk by Nails Inc. I know you’re all so stunned, I just never use that color
I swear my hair isn’t that blond in real life, it’s just the lighting.
This outfit was really easy and comfortable, but I felt like it didn’t look like I thought it would when I planned it out on my head. While the Images are great, I feel like this wasn’t the most flattering outfit I’ve ever worn. So why did I put it up? Because this isn’t stylized, these outfits are actually things I wear in my day to day life. After I we took these photos, I went shopping. That haul will be up in the next couple of days.
P.S. When I was little I wanted to be Kitty Pride or Jubilee.

Fresh Faced and Flushed Cheeks http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/02/fresh-faced-and-flushed-cheeks/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/02/fresh-faced-and-flushed-cheeks/#comments Fri, 01 Feb 2013 21:03:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2013/02/fresh-faced-and-flushed-cheeks/ I loved the makeup I had on in yesterday’s post so much that I decided to do a post about it all on its own.

For my face I used Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer which I love so much it as its very own post here, and finally Fashion Admirer which is a Lancôme Eyeshadow for blush. I’m out of blush and still haven’t bought any yet. It’s because I’m extremely indecisive and am now looking at Inglot instead of Lancôme. I actually kinda really liked it as blush though so its all good.

Unfortunately I didn’t get as good of a shot of my eye makeup as I would have liked, but blame me and not the photographer. For my eyes I used Urban Decay Primer Potion, Too Faced Kiss The Bride all over the lid from the Romance Palette and Lancôme Fashion Admirer in my crease  which is the same one I used as blush, and Off The Rack in the inner corner, and Daylight as my highlight on my brow bone from the Color Design Palette that I got as a free gift with purchase, . Then I used Urban Decay Bourbon 24/7 glide on eyeliner and YSL shocking Mascara for my top lashes which I also adore so much it has its very own post here and Lancôme Definicils Mascara in Black for my bottom lashes which was also in my Christmas gift set.

For my lips I used Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Tint in Joy and I adore it. I’m extremely pale so bright lip colors stand out all the more on me, but I’m okay with that. I received this in a birch box and it maybe one of my favorite things I ever received from them.

Below I have some swatches of the products used and close ups of the shadows.

From Left to Right: Urban Decay Bourbon 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil, Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Joy, Too Faced Kiss The Bride, Lancôme Fashion Admirer and Off The Rack

I loved this makeup look, if felt very fresh for the upcoming spring, and I loved the monochromatic look. I will definitely be repeating it in the very near future. What’s your go to makeup look for spring?

Blogmas Day 22: Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer. http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-22-tarte-smooth-operator-amazonian-clay-waterproof-concealer/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-22-tarte-smooth-operator-amazonian-clay-waterproof-concealer/#comments Sat, 22 Dec 2012 21:33:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-22-tarte-smooth-operator-amazonian-clay-waterproof-concealer/ For Blogmas Day 22 I decided to to a review on the concealer I’m currently using. For those of you that haven’t read my skin story here, I had really bad acne. That caused lots of hyper pigmentation, which can be very hard to cover up. My skin is much better now thanks to my current skin care routine most of which is from the Liz Earle Range. My scarring even seems to be going away, slowly but it’s still disappearing.

Since it’s still not completely gone, and when you factor in the random blemish that everyone gets, I still need a concealer. So when I ran out of my Chanel one, I decided to try something new since that one was oxidizing on my face. I think it was reacting with my Urban Decay setting spray, but as nice as the Chanel concealer was, I can’t use powder, so the setting spray is all I have to set my makeup. So I went to Sephora and found the one guy that works there and asked him for his help.

Side note: I prefer the guys that work at Sephora because they always seem more helpful.

He recommended the Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Waterproof  Concealer, so I bought it. After being color matched and seeing it’s coverage that is.

I’ve used it for a little over a month now and I adore it. I’ve hardly used any of the product, but a little bit goes a long way.

I’ve taken some before and after shots of freckles on my arm to show you it’s coverage. I know it doesn’t match on my arm but it does exactly on my face.

Before:

You can see two freckles next to each other, and then

After:

One of them has disappeared!

This concealer doesn’t bother my skin either. It actually seems to help clear it up any blemishes I have, which I’ve heard is a benefit of Amazonian Clay.

I think the proof is in the pictures though so I’m going to leave it at that. I definitely recommend this concealer though if you’re in the market for a new one.

Blogmas Day 17: What’s in the Sushi Pouch or Lip Gloss Overload http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-17-whats-in-the-sushi-pouch-or-lip-gloss-overload/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-17-whats-in-the-sushi-pouch-or-lip-gloss-overload/#comments Mon, 17 Dec 2012 18:51:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-17-whats-in-the-sushi-pouch-or-lip-gloss-overload/ Blogmas Day 17 is a continuation of yesterdays post. What’s in my Sushi Pouch?

I got this off of amazon and I kinda really love it. It makes me super happy every time I see it in my bag which is often, because it’s just so silly.

Inside my Sushi Pouch I have all my most used lip products:

From left to right they are: Jouer gloss in Birchbox Pink, Tarte Lipsurgance in Joy, Vapour Elixir Gloss in Enigma, Lancome Juicy Tube in Coral Rush (Similar), Beauty Rush lipgloss in Cherry Bomb(New Packaging), Chanel Glossimer in #60 Satinette (Similar), Liplicious lip gloss in Strawberry Meringue (Similar), C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine in Cinnamint, Dermatologica Clean Start Smart Mouth Lip Shine in Original, Liz Earle Superbalm.

The bottom row is: Covergirl Lip Perfection in #305 Hot, Lancome Rouge In Love #156B Madame Tulip, Lancome Rouge In Love #128M Ever So Sweet, Urban Decay De Slick Shine Control Setting Spray (Similar) and my Travelo filled with Burberry Brit for women.

I’ve swatched all the lip products that don’t go on clear.

First is Lipglosses:

From Left to Right: Jouer Lipgloss in Birchbox Pink, Vapour Lipgloss in Enigma, Lancome Juicy Tube in Coral Rush, Beauty Rush Gloss in Cherry Bomb, Chanel Glossimer in #60 Satinette.

Then Lipsticks/Stains:

Tarte Lipsurgence in Joy, Lancome Rouge In Love in #128M Ever So Sweet, Lancome Rouge in Love #156B in Madame Tulipe, Covergirl Lip Perfection in #305 Hot.

As you can see I clearly have a lip product problem. I can’t help it, sometimes I start out the day wearing one color, and then decide midday I want to use a different one, I’m just super indecisive.  The only time I commit to a color all day is if I’m using one of the lipsticks because I like ones that stay put. These are definitely my most used favorites and I keep them with me so if I do decide to change the one I’m wearing I have what I want on hand.

What are your most used lippies?

Blogmas Day 16: What’s in my Handbag http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-16-whats-in-my-handbag/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-16-whats-in-my-handbag/#comments Mon, 17 Dec 2012 01:13:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/12/blogmas-day-16-whats-in-my-handbag/ This post is going up a bit late today because I’m still ill, and since it’s Sunday, I’ve been quite lazy.  I did decide to take some photos of what’s in my handbag the other day so that’s what today’s post is about.

My Bag is from Baghaus and it was a birthday present last year so I’m pretty sure they don’t sell it any more but it’s by Urban Expressions. It has 2 large zipper compartments, and one in the front under the buckles, 2 little pockets on the inside of the front large compartment, a zipper one in the back large compartment, and 2 side pockets that snap.

The larger items I keep in my bag are my Keep Calm and Carry On blog book from Barnes and Noble and Moleskin Pen, Kenneth Cole Reaction Wallet (Similar), Sushi Makeup pouch, Kate Spade Glasses, Nook Simple Touch with Kate Spade cover (sold out but they still have Jack Spade Covers) and my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Band aid box.

A close up of the little things you can’t see:

Lancome Hand lotion (free gift with purchase), Liz Earle Hand Repair, Thymes Eucalyptus body lotion from a birchbox, OPI Black Onyx, Mirror that was a Christmas Gift from a friend, 2 Halloween Bath and Body Works PocketBacs , and a neat square hand Sanitizer my husband brought me home from work, ring from ColorMe.com (which now seems to be defunct) and Earrings from Charlotte Russe.

I hate being anywhere without something to read and since my phone isn’t nook app friendly (not enough space!) I keep my nook with me. The glasses are for reading only, and I absolutely adore them. They’re black on the outside and have pink polka dots on the inside. I think the blog book is self explanatory. If it’s not, there’s a post explaining it here. The band aid box is a relic from when my husband and I started dating, I cut my finger while we were out and he bought me ninja turtle band aid’s because nothing soothes a paper cut like Michelangelo.  The wallet I got for Mother’s Day from my husband because I hated the one I had more about that here. The Nail Polish is just random, thrown in when I meant to paint my nails at a friends house but ended up being to busy to. The Pocketbacs should be obvious. The Jewelry I had on one day and it was getting on my nerves so I tossed them in my purse. Which brings us to the lotions. I’m a knitter, and if you don’t keep your hands moisturized you can get calluses which I don’t want so I’ve got lots of lotions stashed everywhere.

I’m actually going to be doing a post on what is in my Sushi pouch tomorrow because I don’t want this post to get too long or too link happy.  If you’re wondering where all my makeup-y things are, I’ll give you until tomorrow to guess.
