And no it’s not yoga leggings, though I do love those too. This is the outfit that I was wearing under my coat in my Bitter River book review.

Cable Knit Sweater (similar) American Eagle Western Denim Shirt, Gap Legging Jeans, Victoria Secret Tote, and Bear Paw Boots.

I plan on buying so many more sweaters and oxfords/flannels as soon as I’m off my spending ban. It’s not a complete ban, I’ll still be replacing things I run out of, but until Christmas I’m mostly buying presents. I just feel like myself in this outfit. So you’ll probably be seeing some version of this again.

The preppy girls uniform, and I adore it. I would have worn my white gap oxford, but it needs to be cleaned. The tote bag is my library bag, and it was last years V.S. Black Friday Tote.

Normally I don’t wear these boots out in public. I don’t have anything against those who do, I just normally don’t. It’s why I don’t own Uggs. However those bow back bailey boots from Uggs are kinda making me rethink my position on them, because they’re adorable.

On My Face: Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Liquid Mousse foundation. I absolutely am adoring it, Nars Deep Throat Blush, YSL Babydoll Mascara, Lancome Metallic Taupe, Benefit Watts Up, and Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment

My Jewelry:Kate Spade Gumdrop earrings (renamed the small square studs) and a Key necklace that was a gift.

My Hair: Simple Ponytail using an Emi-jay hair tie

There are no pictures of Howl today. I was running late getting to the library and just had these photos take really quickly before I left.

Ashley Tisdale Inspired OOTD http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/02/ashley-tisdale-inspired-ootd/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2013/02/ashley-tisdale-inspired-ootd/#comments Fri, 08 Feb 2013 20:17:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2013/02/ashley-tisdale-inspired-ootd/
This maybe one of my favorite outfits I’ve ever put together. I love Ashley Tisdale’s street style. I haven’t loved too much that she’s played in, but her style I adore.

This is based on this outfit that she wore.

Ashley Tisdale inspired

Since her heart sweater is nt only out of stock but also outrageously priced I went with this one from River Island. Which is sold out, but Heart sweaters are pretty in right now so you could probably find one from Forever 21 or H&M.
She’s wearing wet look leggings or something like that. I couldn’t find the exact ones she was wearing, so I went with these from Topshop. They’re the side panel wet look leggings
For boots I went with the black version of the nude Sam Edelman boots I was I love with. I was hoping to find either color on sale, but it looks like that wont be happening.
I’m not usually all that into handbags, to be honest though, I’m a bit obsessed with this one. It’s from a site I’ve never heard of GoFavor, but isn’t it gorgeous? And it comes in blue, which I personally think is even better.
Which brings us to the sunnies. Ashley’s wearing large cat eyeglasses with her outfit and honestly I’m obsessed with that style of sunglasses and am definitely looking to pick up a pair for this summer. These are from oasap.com but they’re sold out. However I prefer the rodeo sunglasses from stylemint which are also old out but I’ve wait listed myself.
I think this outfit is adorable and while some of you may think heart sweaters are only suitable for Valentines day, personally I’d wear this to its death.

Have you heard of: Bootights http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/11/have-you-heard-of-bootights/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/11/have-you-heard-of-bootights/#comments Thu, 15 Nov 2012 17:25:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/11/have-you-heard-of-bootights/ Okay I live in an area where it gets really cold. Which I absolutely love, but I tend to sort of freeze to death come winter time. Especially for dressy occasions, when I have to wear a skirt or dress. Usually I’m more than happy to pair it with my boots and some tights, but my feet still get cold if I have to spend much time standing in the snow because the foot area of tights aren’t very thick. And it’s a pain in the butt to wear socks with tights for more warmth.

Well apparently a company made a solution for that. They’re called Bootights. The concept is that Boots+Tights=Bootights. I discovered them because they followed me on twitter and I looked at their page, and that’s it. I haven’t tried their product yet, but the idea was so ingenious I had to blog about it. I hope to place an order with them soon, because seriously this is amazing. They’re tights, and instead of normal tight feet, they have socks attached to the end. Somehow that seems both simple and earth shattering at the same time.

I’m sure any other girl who wears dresses in the winter, or lives in a cold area can agree with me how many winter problems these solve. Boots and dresses are a very common fashion choice, and tights are usually thrown in once the weather starts getting colder. The problem with that is the foot area of tights are usually thinner once you put them on, so not only are your feet colder, but they don’t offer much in the way of comfort or padding. If you add in a pair of socks either over or under the tights, you end up with bunching and possibly sweaty uncomfortable feet. But bootights foot area is more like a sock, so it’s thicker for warmth and wicks away moisture like a sock would and padded similar to a sock. Plus most of my tights get ruined at the feet first, so I think these would last so much longer?

My favorite tights on the site are the Draper Herringbone and the Clark Cable. Aside from really liking the tights themselves I really like the retro names as well. How cute are the word play names there? Don Draper and Clark Gable, adorable. The prices aren’t bad, they seem to range from $30 to $40 usd. Which when you factor in how much longer they’ll last you and how much warmer you’ll be really seems worth it to me.

Have you heard of this brand before? Are you going to try them out?

Confession: I’m obsessed with Hunter Wellies http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/10/confession-im-obsessed-with-hunter-wellies/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/10/confession-im-obsessed-with-hunter-wellies/#comments Sat, 20 Oct 2012 16:14:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/10/confession-im-obsessed-with-hunter-wellies/ I know you’re all well aware of my Hunter Wellies obsession. I currently own one pair, the original green in the Huntress style.

And they are outrageously expensive, but I really want another pair. I know I’m certifiable, but it’s an obsession I tell you. I should be asleep right now, but instead I’m watching youtube videos about Hunter’s. There’s a bit of a following behind them, and if you live in a rainy/snowy climate like I do, then you’d understand why. They are very classy, and very quintessentially English, or New English depending on which country you live in. I don’t really think my obsession with these boots is really any different than someone else obsessing over makeup or cat related things. Everyone has something they really love, my thing just happens to be rain boots. I do have an obsession with Rainy weather, and Rain gear, as I’ve blogged about in the past. I’m pretty sure I’ve also written about why it’s Hunter boots that I’m so obsessed with, but if I haven’t before here it is now, and if I have well bear with me.

I love Hunter boots because of their history, they’re a very old company, and for a company to have lasted that long means that they are a quality product. The older a company is, the more I tend to love it, Macy’s has been around since 1858, Tiffany’s since 1837, Nordstrom since 1901. All three of those places are my favorite shops. (disclaimer I’ve never actually shopped at Tiffany’s but I do stare at the website for hours). Hunter Boots was started by Henry Lee Norris in 1856 and the boots were made for Scotland’s rugged terrain and unpredictable weather. While the materials they use to make the boots has changed as they’ve found better materials, the dedication to quality has not changed at all. A lot of people say the average life of the boots is 5 to 10 years which is amazing for rain boots, as most of them don’t make it through spring. I have also seen reviews where people have said they’ve had their boots for 20 years and they’re still in amazing condition. I think it all depends on how much you wear them, but the minimum I’ve read about is 5 years.

Another Secret: I have this image of myself in the snow on Christmas morning, wearing my Hunters with black trousers and a cream coloured cable knit jumper. And if you can’t tell by my use of Jumper instead of Sweater and the u in Colour, that I also wish I were in England but that’s another post. I need to get some of the Wellie socks Hunter sells for them, to make them extra warm for the winter. I’m actually really hoping for a cold snowy winter this year, just so I’ll get some good use out of my boots.

I can’t decide if I want a red pair, or a yellow pair, or a black pair. Actually I want them all, but that would be insane. If I bought either the Red or Yellow I’d buy them in the Glossy style, and the black I’m undecided between the matte and the glossy.  I think the Red ones would be great they make me think of Ramona Quimby who happens to be my favorite girl ever. I don’t care if she’s just a storybook character, she was my first icon. I wanted to be exactly like her when I was little right down to her Red Wellies, and I never did get my Red wellies, so I could be just like her. I think I like them best in the short style, with a pair of the wellie socks they sell, they would be perfect for stomping around in the snow.

I probably won’t be able to get them until early next year, because they are something I have to save up for, but they are definitely on my wishlist. I know, I know I don’t need them, and while I can come up with a bazillion reason why I need them, such as having another pair would greatly save on wear and tear on my other boots, but the reality is I just really really really want them, and they would make me smile every time I saw them, I get incredibly happy just looking at the pictures on them online. And really I think that’s more than enough reason to start saving for them. I’m really hoping they’ll be included in a Christmas sale at one of the retail locations that sells them. But even if I have to wait, it’ll be more than worth it.

Disclaimer, there are affiliate Ads in this post, they were the easiest way for me to add pictures of the boots all I had to do was search them in the side of blogger and click add.

Autumn Day Look http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/10/autumn-day-look/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/10/autumn-day-look/#comments Thu, 04 Oct 2012 23:39:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/10/autumn-day-look/

Delia’s Toggle Coat
H&M Zip Back Top
Dark Green H&M Pants
Alloy Riding Boots
H&M Sunglasses and Bracelets

I linked what I could find, but most of the items don’t seem to be available online.  The Boots are from 3 years ago, so you won’t be able to find them anymore, but everything else is this season, so you might be able to find what I couldn’t link in stores.

I loved this outfit.  It felt like something Taylor Swift might wear with different shoes maybe.  It’s definitely my favorite outfit so far this autumn.

So tell me do you like this style of video?

Mini Skirts and Tights http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/09/mini-skirts-and-tights/ http://fashionandhappythings.com/2012/09/mini-skirts-and-tights/#comments Mon, 24 Sep 2012 19:26:00 +0000 mana http://new.fashionandhappythings.com/2012/09/mini-skirts-and-tights/ Do you ever get fixated on one idea and just can’t let go of it? I saw a picture on facebook of a Zara gold sequin skirt paired with a sweater, and suddenly I had to have a sequin skirt.

And, you know honestly, I don’t know what the hell is up with me.  I don’t wear sequins as a general rule and I don’t wear mini skirts like ever.  But the way it’s paired is just so cute, and I could easily see myself wearing it for holiday parties with tights and flats and being freaking adorable.

Then I started looking for that particular mini, but I couldn’t find it anywhere, because it’s from Zara’s winter collection last season. It’s on ebay, but for buy it now it’d be at least $120 and I’m not paying that much for a skirt I’ll wear maybe 10 times before the years out. So then I started searching for a similar look (it’s so spangly!). I couldn’t find anything exactly close but maybe there will be more options closer to the coming winter season.

I just so happened to be watching Scooby doo while I was searching for this skirt and noticed that Daphne wears her mini with Opaque tights, and I was like well if I’d wear that skirt for parties with tights, why can’t I do a more subdued mini as an everyday with tights? I immediately clicked over to The Limited since as of Oct 4th I have $50 in virtual Dollars to spend, and picked out 2 that I plan on picking up then.  They also have a great selection of tights.

I tend to dress up a bit more in the colder seasons, and I think picking up some mini’s in fall/winter fabrics to pair with tights and boots will fit right in in with my 60′s-esque Gwen Stacy style fall and winter style. I really excited about being more daring, even though with the opaque tights I’ll still be completely covered.  Though I must reiterate that tights and leggings, no matter how opaque they are, are not pants, be classy people.

Are you making any daring additions to your wardrobe this coming season?
