Stylish Weekday: Studded

It's not Sunday, I know. It's not even Monday or Tuesday anymore. It's freaking WEDNESDAY! Where have I been? In bed, with migraines. Or not home. But I'm here now, with a pretty awesome outfit.

I went shopping with my parents last week to pick up some pieces to put in my Halloween Costume, and then ended up getting home, looking at what I bought and realizing this is just everyday wear for me. So I wore it.

Shirt: Madewell, Jeans: H&M, Shoes: H&M I love this outfit, but I absolutely hated my hair. I couldn't get it how I wanted it, but it wasn't awful enough to justify a bun. However, I love these jeans. They were $10 at H&M and I was going to rip the knees out, but I changed my mind. I love them just they way they are.

I still love this shirt, I've had it for a couple years now, but Madewell really is worth the cost. It's held up so perfectly.

On My Face: Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation, Maybelline The Nudes Shadows, Makeup Forever Eyeliner and Mascara, Hourglass Blush, The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Revlon New York Scene Lip Color. Necklace: H&M.

I am completely obsessed with this necklace, which in the store was the costume-y bit that I purchased. But then I got it home and realized it's actually just stupidly cute. So it's now everyday wear. But my "costume this year wasn't ever overtly costume-y so I guess there's really no harm in it.

The only fault with these pants is the ankles aren't tight enough, but I can fix that. Have you ever bought something for Halloween and ended up using it for not Halloween?

Stylish Sundays: Burgundy and Chelsea Boots

Have I mentioned before how much I love Autumn? Because I really and truly adore Autumn. October is my favorite month, and this year the weather has been perfect. But the best part of Autumn is the clothes. I love Chelsea Boots, and Sweaters.

Sweater: Aeropostale, Jeggings: Aeropostale, Chelsea Boots: H&M, Bag: Kate Spade

I wore this to the Library last week. I have to say I'm really pleasantly surprised with Aeropostale's clothing since they revamped themselves. These Jeggings are amazingly comfortable and I adore this sweater.

On My Face: Nars Tinted Moisturizer, Hourglass Hidden Concealer, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush, Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, Makeup Forever Smokey Extravagant Mascara, Revlon Matte Balm In Shameless.

On My Nails: Maybelline Color Show A Walk In The Park, I can't tell you how surprised I am with this polish. I wore it over a week, with no chips. More about the polish here.

I am absolutely obsessed with this lip color. I had just patted it on my lips lightly with my finger this day, but I wore it full on, on my birthday and I adore it that way too. It's seriously probably the only color I've been wearing.

I've had this necklace so long that I don't know where it's from anymore. And I definitely don't wear it enough for as much as I actually use the word Adore.

But my favorite part of this outfit was my boots. I'm completely obsessed with them. They're so comfortable and they're the only shoes I want to wear. And I have a lot of shoes. I definitely intend to get a plain black pair of Chelsea boots because they're the most perfect boots ever made.

What's your favorite thing about Autumn?

Conair You Waving Wand Review

I bought the Conair You Waving Wand the first time I got my hair cut because I wanted something really easy to use, but different from the Conair You Curl Infinity Wand which I've had since it came out.

I remembered that Fleur De Force talked about a curling wand like this in one of her videos, except hers was the Babyliss one, so I decided to try it out. The first thing I did when I got it was throw away that 3 fingered glove thing because even though I haven't ever burned my fingers with the Infinity Wand, I did manage to burn myself with this wand using that glove. Since I got rid of it though I haven't had a problem.

The main reason I purchased the Conair version instead of the one from Remington is because of the heat settings. I had a bad experience with someone curling my hair that caused me to have to get my hair cut in the first place.  I only use this set to the 330 or 310 degree temperature, but I can say that it does heat up quickly.

These are the kinds of curls that I get from this curling wand. I usually use 1 inch or larger sections rapped around for a count of 10. But if you used smaller sections then you'd get tighter waves from it.

I absolutely love this curling wand and use it about once a week, and the curls last for about 3 days until I need to wash my hair.  I fully recommend it.

Mary Lambert Heart On My Sleeve

Mary Lambert's new Album Heart On My Sleeve is out today and you need it in your life.

*I participated in the Mary Lambert Heart On My Sleeve album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided a free album to review but all opinions are my own.  .

When I received this album I was insanely excited and it did not disappoint. Not only does Mary Lambert have a beautiful voice, but she's an amazing lyricist. She covers everything from heartbreak, to being proud of who you are, and new love. The whole album is beautiful but some of the tracks really stuck out to me.

The first track Secrets is definitely my favorite and I can fully see why she made it the single. If you've missed it on the radio you can listen to it below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqqqV50zaAc

I can easily picture this on a playlist titled Summer Fun. Like All About That Bass, and Try it promotes loving yourself as you, but it's more positive overall. It's insanely catchy and has been stuck in my head since I first heard it, in the best possible way.

The next track that really struck me as something special was Dear One. Putting a poem on a album is something you'd expect from someone like Emilie Autumn or on the other side of the spectrum Tim Minchin. Short, but passionate the emotions in her voice are encompassing. Full of promise, hope and love. While not generally expected, it's perfect and it's by far my most played.

Her cover of Jesse's Girl by Rick Springfield, is stunning. Her voice is absolutely haunted on this track. She truly expresses the pain of unrequited love, making you really feel it, even if you never have. This is something that the more upbeat original version seems to miss out on. A song that makes me think of my childhood, this felt both familiar and fresh at the same time.

The last track that truly struck me as something worth talking about is the title track Heart On My Sleeve. A song for the start of love, it's pop-y and upbeat. The magic of this song is that it perfectly captures new love, and all the hope we have for it at the beginning. This is something you can dance around your kitchen too, and would fit in flawlessly on that Summer Fun playlist I mentioned earlier.

Those are just my four favorites, the entire album is amazing. Mary Lambert said she set out to create an album that was Catchy, Fun and impacted the world positively, and I'm certain she succeeded. Heart On My Sleeve was inspired by the things that effected Mary Lambert the most, a huge breakup, signed to a major label, learning to be independent and meeting the woman of her dreams.

I think everyone should head to iTunes or Amazon right now an pick up this album. Every track is absolutely amazing.

Stylish Sundays: Holy Smoke

I'm currently sick right now, because you know it's fall, and as soon as it even gets chilly outside,  I'm ill. However these photos were taken before my birthday, when I was completely healthy.

Top: Bethany Mota For Aeropostale, Jeans: High Waisted Aeropostale Jeggings, Shoes: Keds

On My Face: Nars Tinted Moisturizer, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush, The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter, Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eyeliner, Makeup Forever Smokey Extravagant Mascara, Lancome Rouge In Love Madame Tulip

Necklace: Tiny Owl from F21, Nails: Sugar Plums from China Glaze

I haven't shopped at Aeropostale in ages, but they've revamped everything in the store, and I definitely found a couple things that I'm completely in love with. Like these jeans. They both look and feel amazing. But the best part of this outfit is the tee. I didn't give the Bethany Mota Collection a second glance when it came out, because honestly I felt to old to be shopping at Aerpostale, but I noticed this top in their sale section, liked what it said, and when I tried it on feel completely in love with it.

And of course my Grey Keds are still my favorites, but I definitely want to still get a black pair and a red pair. However, my husband did just buy me some amazing boots from H&M that I'm currently wearing to death, so these aren't getting as much love as they should be.

Have you bought anything recently that you were pleasantly surprised  by?

Stylish Sundays: 28th

It was my 28th birthday this past Thursday, and I adored my outfit and makeup. The first photo probably isn't my favorite ever take of me, but the other full shot was a bit too Jessica Rabbit for this blog.

Sweater Dress: Maurices, Tights: Hue, Chelsea Boots: Asos, Necklace: Gift

I absolutely loved this dress. It fit amazing, and it had elbow patches, which I'm obsessed with.

On My Nails: Maybelline Color Show A Walk In The Park. I was pleasantly surprised by this polish and am looking forward to picking up a few more. You can learn more about the Colorshow polishes color range and where to get it here

On My Face: Nars Tinted Moisturizer, Hourglass Hidden Concealer, Maybelline The Nude's Eyeshadow Palette, Rimmel Scandaleyes Black Eyeliner, Makeup Forever Smokey Extravagant Mascara, The Balm Hot Mama Blush, Nars Deep Throat Blush, The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter, Revlon Matte Balm in Shameless, Victoria's Secret Violet Femme Lipgloss

I still adore these boots. I swear I'm going to wear them until all the studs fall off. They're so comfortable.

And to include a little mini birthday haul. I've already shown this on instagram, twitter and facebook, but I figured why not here as well.

Clockwise from bottom left: Tim Minchin So Fucking Rock Tee from my son, Nightmares by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller, The Last Werewolf by Glenn Duncan and H&M Chelsea Boots all from my husband. Not Pictured, because they're on iTunes, the 3 Tim Minchin Albums (So Fucking Rock Live, Ready For This Live and Tim Minchin and the Heritage Orchestra Live as well as the singles for Drowned and The Fence)  that my parents and I got for myself.  It was a pretty great birthday, I had an ice cream cake that had sugar spiders on it because they were adorable and we went to a local Mexican restaurant where I had some awesome fajitas and then chilled at home.

What's been the best birthday gift you've ever gotten?
